How to live at home without a car!

It is hardly surprising that, when we ask people where they want to live as they age, they say, “In my home.” They do not want to live with relatives, in a nursing home or in an assisted living facility. “My home” is the preference of nearly 90 percent of people 50 and older. The ability to get around is a daunting barrier to ones independence.

Your independence begins to erode when you have to rely on friends and family for all your transportation needs. The cost of owning an automobile is very expensive when you add up insurance, gas, repairs, maintenance, and replacement. That can easily run $2500.00 per year.

If there were a way to meet all your transportation needs for less than owning and operating your own vehicle would you be interested? The cost for a local trip is 50 cents per mile round trip. Example: The average trip is estimated to be $8.00. A trip from Saraland to the Bel-Air Mall is about ten miles one way. The trip would be about thirteen dollars round trip. A local trip the hair dresser or grocery store would cost about five dollars. If we use $8.00 as an average and assume you will need transportation every other day, then a years worth of transportation would cost $1500.00.

Funding of your Transportation account can happen in many ways. Your account can be funded with as little as $25.00. Your account can be paid with cash, credit card, volunteer credits or a donated automobile. When you volunteer as a driver then you are building future transportation credits for you, a loved one or give them to a friend. A care giver or adult child can fund your transportation account. Our custom senior transportation computer software will analyze your usage history each month and mail you an averaged invoice.
